3M has over 55 years of automotive window tint innovation and technology. 3M is trusted by most skilled installers and recognised as a leader in the automotive industry for providing high-quality, reliable, and long-lasting auto window film solutions. 3M™ Automotive Window Film provides superior heat rejection, UV protection, reduced glare and increased privacy and security for a more comfortable driving experience.
3M™ Automotive Window Films use a special film applied directly to the interior surface of a car's windows. The film is made up of multi-layer film technology that works together to deliver UV protection, heat rejection and privacy. It is designed to reduce solar heat transmission through the glass by increasing solar reflection (not necessarily visible reflection) and solar absorption.
The Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation on our Crystalline Series and Ceramic IR Series is based on testing that meets Skin Cancer Foundation criteria — blocking 99% or more of UVA and UVB radiation. For nearly 40 years, the Seal has been trusted by consumers to represent safe and effective sun protection. All applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee of dermatologists with expertise in photobiology.
Nano-ceramic technology provides a high level of infrared heat rejection thanks to its absorptive technology. It rejects up to 63% of total solar energy and up to 95% of heat-producing infrared rays (IRER+ up to 67%) for the ultimate in comfort. This 3M technology is compatible with 5G devices, so you stay connected on the road.
Nothing completely stops fading, but 3M™ Automotive Window Films help reduce the major causes — UV light, visible light, and solar heat — prolonging the life of your furnishings, perhaps two to five times. Typically, UV is ~40% of the cause, visible light ~25%, and heat ~25%. The remaining 10% comes from humidity, pollutants, interior lights, dye stability, and more.
Here are the core metrics used on every tint spec sheet:
- TSERTotal Solar Energy Rejection — the higher this value, the less solar heat is transmitted.
- VLTVisible Light Transmitted — the higher the number, the lighter the film.
- UV RejectionPercentage of UV light rejected by the filmed glass. UV contributes to fading of fabrics and leather.
- IRRInfrared Rejection over 900–1,000 nm — primarily responsible for the heat you feel when driving.
- IRERInfrared Energy Rejection over 780–2,500 nm. Accounts for transmitted and re-radiated IR energy.
- Glare ReductionPercentage by which visible light is reduced by the addition of the tinting film.
To make a claim under this warranty in Malaysia, first contact your car installer. If the installer is not available, simply contact 3M at 603-7888 2884. 3M will direct you to an installer selected by 3M to have your 3M™ Automotive Window Films inspected and, if your claim is covered, 3M will have the installer provide the stated remedy. Please retain your e-warranty copy as it must be presented along with the original invoice to receive warranty service.
3M designs, formulates, and manufactures 3M™ Automotive Window Film for optimum performance and durability. 3M AutoFilm is backed by a comprehensive 5-year e-warranty should your window films need replacing from bubbling, peeling, blistering or purpling. 3M AutoFilm is durable, designed to last and virtually maintenance free. Our films are sold and installed exclusively by professional, Authorised 3M car centres. Warranty is void if the product has been subjected to abuse or improper care.
